96.1 FM/900 AM W.U.R.D. – Emotional/Mental Health in Responding to Racism (Charlottesville Protests)

Monday night, I did my weekly segment on Philadelphia’s 96.1 FM/ 900 AM W.U.R.D. show The Lounge. I talked to listeners about responding to racism, and how to maintain your emotional and mental health in the process! After the events in Charlottesville over this past weekend, we need to be reminded about the importance of communication, clarity, and community in healing and overcoming the negativity surrounding us.   1. As a white woman with a Jewish grandmother who lived through the 60’s and was in Chicago when King was murdered and the National Guard occupied our neighborhood, I actually find it more challenging to talk to other white people. So that’s the challenge I am going to try to take up. Thanks.

    1. Wow! Thank you for listening Elizabeth, I really appreciate it. And I’m glad you shared this with me. You have a personal connection to the struggles of African-Americans in this country. That is a powerful tool. I think what we need most is white people who are socially conscious to converse with other white people who are not! this is important for moving forward. THAnks again 🙂
